Happy May And A New Baby

So yes, our little one finally made his appearance into the world 1 week ago today, 5 days late. I went into labor the day before in the afternoon and thought (since I was in labor for 48 hours with my first boy) we’d have plenty of time before we needed to go to the hospital. Not so much. I was in labor only 15 hours this time and it only took 5 pushes to get our little guy out. It was amazing seeing and hearing him for the first time. After our loss 1 year ago, it was definitely bitter sweet. With my older son, I was in too much pain to even cry when I saw him for the first time, but with this one I cried and cried and cried. It was wonderful finally being able to see him, hold him, and know that he was alright and we could take him home.

For the last few days before I went into labor, I was staying with my in-laws, about an hour and a half away from my husband. They were nice enough to offer to help with my son and myself since I was in so much pain. Actually, I hurt less there because their bed is so comfy. Lol. So, after labor and delivery and 2 days total in the hospital, we spent the night at their house again. The next day, we decided to make the trip to see my family and Hubby’s grandparents which was an hour and a half away from them. What were we thinking? I have no idea. I was in a ton of pain and I really just wanted to be home on my own comfy couch, but our families had missed out the last time we had a baby. We lived 15 hours away then and no one could make it out. I didn’t want them to miss out again and in the end, it was worth it. But boy, were we happy to go home after that!

This past week has been amazing. I’ve been so happy to finally have Baby #2, I’ve barely put him down! Big Brother is loving him too, always asking to hold him and feed him, even change him. He just wants to love him all the time. I know he just wants to play with him though. I’m excited to see them grow up and play together. Another thing, I can’t wait to see what they look like as they grow. Little Brother looks just like Big Brother did when he was born. I wonder if that’ll change as they get older.

I’m so excited for this next chapter in my life and the timing is working out perfectly. From the day he was born, there are 6 sets of 6 weeks until January 1st. My goal by then is to lose 50 lbs. and I know I can make it happen! Today is the day I decided to take my before pictures, 1 week after having my baby, and to start eating healthy 100%. So in 6 weeks, we will see what results we can get from just eating healthy alone, no exercising, since I can’t until 6 weeks after baby anyway. Wish me luck on this new journey! I will update my weight every Wednesday from here on out. Starting weight: 311. Here’s to NEVER seeing that number on the scale again!
